Kanagambaram

An ordinary flower.
One that used to be so common in my younger days
-- when I wore my hair in braids
And went to school with flowers in my hair
-- Because - everybody did !

Before the short hair -- much before
But also before flowers in my hair
Became "unfashionable"
Somewhere along the way.

But recently, I came upon a single plant
With just a few flowers
(Used to be cheaper than jasmine those days!)
--Reminding me of times long gone.

I looked it up now, and found it is called Crossandra. Which I didn't know all these years. Well - we learn something new everyday.

Flowers and more flowers -- bring happy thoughts !

How nature smiles --

She smiles in the flowers
In their many colours,
She smiles in the trees
In their verdant greens,
She smiles in the blues
Of the rolling waves,
She smiles in the breeze
Which touches my face.

She smiles in the passion
We bring to each day,
She smiles at the new things
We think and feel,
The happy thoughts
And colours
Are a little mixed up---
Is it in my head or on the canvas !!!

And that is certainly, a happy place to be !!

When real became too real for me !

I just realised that --- I prefer having something a little more--- or less-- than real -- but only after I had done these three rather real paintings :)

Who is this in a new red dress ? :)

Who is this in a new red dress ? Answer: The old bougainvilla tree.

It is old and gnarled, has straggly branches and has some flowers through out the year, but not too many, of the usual magenta colour. But come March, the leaves seem to fade into the background and the tree is just a riot of colour - reds, burnt orange, and some magenta too, and so many shades in between.

----- And somehow, as we go about our daily work immersed in our own problems, can you believe that we pass this by without a second look ???

So -- my thought for the day is --- look -- you may see something new. :)
